Uplift Lights
2009
It has been a challenge for consumers to find ideal bath lighting that meets their needs for grooming during the day and subtle illumination during the night, without sacrificing luxury style or sustainability.

If you have a large mirror in your bath space, one of the difficulties is to provide ideal task lighting. Overhead lighting is not sufficient for a bath space, because it creates shadows on your face. Other frustrations for the consumer is that many fixtures do not provide enough light output, or the correct warm white color that is best light for grooming. Some high lumen output fixtures have a harsh spot light source, which will provide uniform light. Even softer light sources may not be the best option if they are spaced too far apart from each other, such as in large bath spaces., because the light output diminishes before it can reach your face.

Night time trips to the bathroom can seriously disrupt your sleeping pattern with intense light that can throw off your circadian rhythm. Plug-in night lights are unsightly, take up valuable outlet space, add clutter to your bathroom, or might be located too far away from the objects you need to find. Fussing with switches for dimmable fixtures is not convenient during sleepy night hours.

Available as a pendant or sconce, Robern’s Uplift Lights solve all of these concerns. These cylindrical etched glass luminaries are installed so that they are positioned on the sides of the face. The vertical style fluorescent lamps have a warm white light color of 3000 Kelvin, which is optimal for applying makeup, shaving and other grooming activities. Because of the cylindrical glass design, the lamps provide a task light lumen output, over the 50 foot candles suggested for detail work.

Sconces can sometime limit and architect’s design when considering task lighting, especially when you prefer uninterrupted wall space. When placed on the sides of a large mirror, sconce might be set too far apart to provide enough illumination for grooming. There is not always an option of mounting sconces by drilling through mirror or tile. The ceiling hung pendants have the flexibility needed to provide task lighting without compromising an architect’s design for the wall or mirror space above the vanity. The pendants have an anodized aluminum ceiling canopy and a custom mesh wrapped cord for a luxury look. The custom cord can accommodate ceiling heights up to 12 feet, but is also adjustable at install to fit any size room.

The Uplift Sconces provide enough light to flank a mirror up to 36 inch wide. Similar to the pendant, the scone hangs from a custom cord that was especially developed so that it hangs straight, eliminating ugly kinks and bends found in other hanging fixtures. Besides having a unique modern aesthetic, the hanging shade provides added functionality for the sconce. If the sconce is accidentally bumped, the glass shade will swing, rather than crack under the impact like most sconces. The low profile design is also ADA compliant.

Both the pendant and sconce have a warm white LED nightlight that integrates into the top of the shade. The soft light can be switched on to light up the mesh cord for a decorative addition to the fluorescent lamp, or to act as a sophisticated night light during dark hours. The LED light color matches the warm fluorescent, so when both light sources are switched on, there is balanced illumination. This highly energy efficient feature allows for a tranquil and safe bath space.

Because all Uplift Lights use 24 watt, 4 pin fluorescent lamps combined with LEDs, they are compliant with the strict energy-conserving guidelines of California Building Standards Code (Title 24) and have UL approval.
